AEW Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed were not joined by Daddy Ass for their defense at Full equipment (Billy Gunn, we were told, decided to sit this one out rather than risk losing his temper and going after Swerve Strickland). Anthony Bowens also nursed a (hopefully kayfabe) shoulder injury. But they did have a few extra rods from Max Caster.
Unfortunately for The Acclaimed, Strickland and his Swerve seemed to be on the same page in our Glory tag partner Keith Lee tonight (Nov. 19), allowing Strickland to knock out Caster so the Challengers could isolate Bowens. They disagreed on Swerve’s plan to drape a piece of the barricade from the platform, and he should have listened to the Boundless. Lee had to save his partner, but was then sent through himself by The Acclaimed.
That didn’t stop big Keith from saving Strickland after taking a Mic Drop from Caster. The acclaimed went for their tandem finisher, but Bowen’s arm gave way and Lee cleaned the house.
Everything came crashing down when Swerve tried to mutilate Caster’s fingers like he had Gunn’s weeks ago. First Daddy Ass ran in to save his “son”. When Strickland told Lee to use the pliers on Bowens, the big man said no. When his partner hit him…
…Keith helped Anthony up and walked out.
When The Acclaimed went for the finish line again, Bowens pulled it off. Everyone still loves the champions and a feud looms between Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland.
