A&R Awards 2022: Finalists revealed!

We’re less than two months away from the UK’s music industry’s funniest night: the A&R Awards, presented by MBW in collaboration with Abbey Road Studios.

Today (September 22) we are announcing the finalists for this year’s event, which covers industry activity from October 2021 through September 2022.

Before we do that, let’s remind ourselves of the categories in the big event…including adding a new one.


The UK-focused A&R Awards 2022 will once again see awards honoring those working in both the independent and key sectors across record, publishing and management companies.

Categories again include Songwriter of the Year And the product of the yearIn addition to year song, Which celebrates some of the best songs written by the majority by British writers (or UK residents) during this period.

Additionally, the A&R singles awards – which also include A & R duos – are again broken down by genre: adult contemporary; rocker; Contemporary black music. electronic / dance; And the Pop/R&B.In addition to popularity A&R Administrator Awardwhich from this year will also be known as “The Forbsie”.

There will also be two team awards, including two general publisher gongs (for UK pubs above and below a certain size limit), plus The main label of the year, the independent label of the year And the management company (aka David Einthoven Award).

And there is one new category for 2022: Director-Generalpowered by YouTube Short, in recognition of the efforts and success of a single (or duo) talent manager who puts the extra effort into their clients/clients – and reaps the rewards.

Most importantly, there are two special prizes: our prize A&R . icon award plus Sir George Martin Award.

Winners will be determined by secret votes of a select group of international music experts in the coming weeks.

In addition to our lead partner, Abbey Road Studios, this year’s A&R Awards backers include Centtrip, Concord Music Publishing, Hipgnosis, Milk & Honey, PPL, Session, Spotify, Vevo, Voly Music, YouTube Short and YouTube Music.
