Disney Plus is restarting Santa Claus, and Tim Allen has signed on to play Santa Claus again.

The hit film from 1994 gave birth to two sequels on big screens, in 2002 and 2006, and now Disney is turning it into a TV series for the streaming platform. Disney has a huge back catalog for reboots, from its live action remakes of animated classics to live-to-streaming remakes such as Home Sweet Home Alone this past Christmas.

In the films, Allen’s character Scott Calvin was a normal guy and harassing father who stepped into the big red suit when Kris Kringle fell from his roof and apparently died (did anyone else think the film slightly overlooked the macabre detail?). In the new series, an aging Calvin sets out to find a replacement Santa Claus.

The showrunner is Jack Burditt, whose previous credits include 30 Rock, Modern Family, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Frasier (who will also be restarted soon). The series is filming in March, so there’s a chance it’s coming to our screens this coming Christmas.
