Today has been a tough day for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, Oculus and Messenger as all services are down. And to make things more bizarre, Facebook.com is somehow now listed for sale, though it will soon be fixed, we assume.
Is Facebook.com down?
According to Down Detector, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and Oculus VR, all owned by Facebook, began to suffer from interruptions around 1 p.m. 11:40 ET.
For its part, WhatsApp acknowledged the problem Twitter. It said it was “working on getting things back to normal and will post an update here as soon as possible.”
The social network had to increase Twitter, a competing social network, to say: “We are aware that some people have difficulty accessing our apps and products. We are working to get things back to normal as soon as possible and we apologize for the inconvenience. ”

But Facebook.com is for sale ?!
Large sites being attacked and shut down are nothing new. But where this gets interesting is that someone managed to nuke the DNS A and AAA records for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, which means that domain names are listed as available according to Chad Loder on Twitter.

We have also confirmed that the domain was available through DomainTools and you can see it for yourself here.
Obviously you will not be able to buy Facebook as it is likely that DNS has just been hijacked and everything will be restored to normal at some point soon.
Either way, this has been a tough day for Facebook and its services, and people everywhere are experiencing incredible boredom without access to their favorite social network.
