Google Chrome is largely based on Google’s open source Chromium and is one of the most popular web browsers on Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone and iPad. Installing and uninstalling Chrome on each operating system takes only a few steps.
How to install Google Chrome on Windows 10 and 11
Open any web browser such as Microsoft Edge, type “google.com/chrome” in the address bar, then press the Enter key. Click Download Chrome> Accept and Install> Save File.
By default, the installer is placed in the Downloads folder (unless you have asked your current web browser to download files elsewhere). Navigate to the appropriate folder in File Explorer, double-click “ChromeSetup” to open the file, and then click the button “drive”.
When prompted to allow this app to make changes to your device, click “Yes”. Google Chrome starts the installation and opens the browser automatically upon completion. You can now sign in to your Google Account, customize your web browser, and start using Chrome as your own.
How to uninstall Google Chrome on Windows 10 and 11
Open your Start menu by selecting the Windows logo on the taskbar, and then clicking the gear icon “Settings”. (This will look a little different on Windows 11.)
In Windows 10, click “Apps” in the pop-up menu. Scroll down the list “Apps and features” to find Google Chrome. click on “Google Chrome”, and then select the button “Uninstall”. You will be asked to click on another “Uninstall”button that will complete the uninstallation process.
Windows 10 retains your profile information, bookmarks, and history.
In Windows 11, select “Apps” from the left sidebar and then select “Installed apps”. In the following menu you will find “Google Chrome”, click the corresponding icon with three dots, then select “Uninstall”. A confirmation prompt will alert you that by clicking “Uninstall” again, “This app and its related information will be uninstalled.”
How to install Google Chrome on Mac
Start by downloading the Chrome installer. Open any web browser, type “google.com/chrome” in the address bar, then press the Enter button.
Now click Download Chrome for Mac> Save File> OK. Open the Downloads folder and double-click the file “googlechrome.dmg”. In the pop-up window, click and drag the Google Chrome icon to the Applications folder directly below it.
You can now open Google Chrome from the Applications folder or by using Apple’s Spotlight search.
How to uninstall Google Chrome on Mac
Make sure Chrome is closed. You can do this by right-clicking the Chrome icon and then selecting the button “Exit”.
Click the folder icon “Programmer” to access all your installed apps.
Click and drag “Google Chrome”icon into the trash.
macOS keeps some Chrome files in some folders until you empty the Recycle Bin. You can do this by right-clicking on the trash can and selecting “Empty trash”.
Alternatively, open the Finder, click “Applications”, right-click “Google Chrome” and select “Move to Trash”. You still need to right-click on the Trash and select “Empty trash” to remove all files from your machine.
How to install Google Chrome on iPhone and iPad
Open your iPhones or iPads App Store by selecting “App Store”icon.
Alternatively, you can use Spotlight Search to search for “App Store” and then click the icon when it appears.
Select the tab “Search” in the lower right corner, and type “Chrome” in the search box at the top. Press the button “fetch” next to Google Chrome, then tap “Install”.
Enter your Apple ID password, then tap “Log in”, or confirm your identity via Touch ID or Face ID. Chrome starts to install and the icon will appear on your home screen or the app library when it’s done.

How to uninstall Google Chrome on iPhone and iPad
To delete an app on your iPhone or iPad, tap and hold the Chrome icon until a menu appears. From it, select the option “Remove app”.
From the following pop-up, press “Delete app.” This will also remove all your profile information, bookmarks and history.
If you choose “Remove from the home screen”, Chrome will only be moved to the App Library.

How to install Google Chrome on Android
Google Chrome comes pre-installed on most Android devices. If for some reason it is not installed, open it “Play Store”icon on your app list by swiping up from the bottom of the screen to open your app list. Scroll down to select “Play Store”, or search for it in the search box at the top of your app list.
Tap the search bar at the top and type “Chrome”, and then tap Install> Accept.
How to uninstall Google Chrome on Android
Because it is the default and pre-installed web browser on Android, Google Chrome cannot be uninstalled. However, you can disable Google Chrome instead if you want to remove it from the list of apps on your device.
To do this, open your “Settings”app by swiping down from the top of the screen twice to display the full message menu, then tapping the gear icon. Alternatively, you can swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the app drawer and scroll down to select “Settings”.
Then select “Apps and notifications”.
If you do not see Chrome below “Recently opened apps”, press “See all apps”.
Scroll down and press “Chrome”. On this “App Info”screen, tap “Disable”. You can repeat this process to reactivate Chrome.
