Iran shocks Wales after Wayne Hennessey gets red card: World Cup live updates

After having a goal disallowed for offside in the first half and receiving two shots in quick succession on the post in the second half, Iran appeared to be unlucky against Wales on Friday. But with new hope after Welsh goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey was sent off late in the game for a tough challenge, Iran finally broke through after Rouzbeh Cheshmi’s laser strike in the 98th minute and added insurance three minutes later with the goal from Ramin Rezaeian.

The result: a rather astonishing 2-0 win for Iran that could very well change the fate of Group B.
