This story is a part of I’m so obsessed (sign up here), our podcast featuring interviews with actors, artists, celebrities and creative types about their work, careers and current occupations.

It’s a simple fact that Jeff Goldblum is some kind of wonderful. For over four decades, the Emmy- and Oscar-nominated film star and musician has spread films and TV shows with outstanding performances, as in The Big Chill, The Fly, Independence Day and The Grand Budapest Hotel. His quirky, comfortable-in-the-corner-of-the-sandbox personality reflects features of some of his most memorable characters such as. Dr. Ian Malcolm in the Jurassic Park movies and Grand Master and Thor: Ragnarok.

On talk shows, especially when interviewed by Conan O’Brien, Goldblum’s eccentric, fascinating spirit is celebrated and fully displayed. So it only makes sense that someone would create a show that puts Goldblum in different real-life situations with different people. That’s actually the case with the National Geographic show The World According to Jeff Goldblum.

Goldblum came along CNETs I’m So Obsessed podcast to discuss season 2 of the show, which can be streamed now on Disney Plus. In each episode, the series’ producers get Goldblum to explore a topic or topic he wants to learn more about, such as magic, monsters, or dogs.

“I’m like a silly weatherman. Sometimes they are [the producers] just go, “let’s put him out there and see what kind of abuse we can do,” Goldblum explained over video chat while wearing a fake reptile / boa constrictor leather bomber jacket. “And I’m out of my comfort zone and ready to play. Doing so gives us a deeper understanding of the extraordinary aspects of ordinary things. Things that we can take for granted, that are familiar, that we can love around us. “

Goldblum and I discussed his jazz band, the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra; Jurassic Park; Wes Anderson; and more. Here are a few of my favorite quotes from Goldblum.

At Al Gore

“We all, we Homo sapiens, should listen to his warnings and to his growing knowledge and our growing knowledge of how we can best be stewards of this treasure of a Ming vase of a planet.”

About Jurassic World

“We just made another one: Jurassic World Dominion, it’s called. And I’m looking forward to seeing it finished. But we had a great time doing it. I have a special affection because I reunited in the shoes. and the skin of Dr. Ian Malcolm again. I’m currently full of, I’m pregnant with it again. “

At Taika Waititi

“I can not divulge anything about this either. But Taika Waititi, I’ve been in touch with him recently. And we have an active creative collaboration. And that melting pot – working with him is just the best. He’s a cartoon. “natural power and a deeply good and soulful, heartfelt artist. I love the Grand Master and am foolish to invent it.”
