Jurassic World Studio Asked Bryce Dallas Howard To Lose Weight, Director Rejected Request

Actor Bryce Dallas Howard recently had her third appearance in the Jurassic World franchise this summer and it was arguably the most exciting of the trilogy. Talk to UK lifestyle site SubwayHoward revealed that she was asked to lose weight before shooting Jurassic World Dominion.

Howard said her weight has often been a topic of discussion among studio executives, and the conversation came up again before recording Dominion. She thanks director Colin Trevorrow for rejecting the studio’s question.

“On the third film, it was really because there were so many women cast, it was something Colin really cared about to protect me…because the conversation came up again,” Howard explained.

“He was like, ‘there are a lot of different kinds of women on this planet and there are a lot of different kinds of women in our movie’ and I had to do so many stunts that wouldn’t have been possible if I had been on a diet,” she continued. .

This wasn’t Howard’s only internal struggle in dealing with the studio over this franchise. In addition to being asked to lose weight, the Mandalorian director also faced being paid less than her co-star Chris Pratt. In 2018, reports surfaced that she made $8 million off Pratt’s $10 million for the second entry in the franchise, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Howard confirmed in summerthat she was paid considerably less.

Jurassic World Dominion is one of the highest-grossing films of the year, grossing over $1 billion. You can see it in theaters as well as stream it on Peacock.
