Man United beat Birmingham to become third in WSL

MANCHESTER, England: Leah Galton scored two goals in the first half as Manchester United beat second-placed Birmingham City 5-0 to reach third place in the Women’s Super League table, level on 21 points with Chelsea in second place.

After defeating league leaders Arsenal last week in a stunning way to record their first win of the season, Birmingham were brought down to earth by a stunning display from United’s first half.

They went back in the 12th minute through a clever save from Katie Zelem before Galton struck in the 16th and 18th minutes to leave the Blues. An own goal left them at 4-0 at the break.

Alessia Russo scored a fifth in the second half to lift United to third place in the table, four points behind leaders Arsenal, whose Sunday clash with Reading has been postponed due to visitors with a number of COVID-19 cases and other blessueres.
