Meghan Markle is being harassed by South Africans after she told her son Archie’s room caught fire during the first episode of her podcast Archetypes.
The Duchess of Sussex recalled that she was “shaken; when a stove in her son’s nursery started smoking during her visit to Cape Town.
Shortly after the podcast premiered on Spotify, South Africans took to social media to shout out the Suits alum as they founded “#VoetsekMeghan” – an offensive term meaning “go away.”
“South Africa… You are amazing – the #VoetsekMeghan tag is brilliant. She single-handedly insults the world from country to country! A real shame when most of her fan base is in SA…oopsie!” one wrote.
“I am not interested in the fire incident, but the statement: coming to South Africa was the bravest thing she has done.
“Speaks volumes. Like she was going to be in an apocalypse or something. She should explain what was brave about it, is it because it’s in Africa? #VoetsekMeghan,” read another post.
