Melania Trump’s employee fired over her ‘lively Grindr account’: Book

  • A White House gay employee for Melania Trump was fired after his Grindr account was discovered.
  • Stephanie Grisham, then working as First Lady’s Press Secretary, blamed John Kelly.
  • “If she was really upset, she could have done something,” Grisham said of Melania Trump.

A gay White House staffer in former First Lady Melania Trump’s office was released after his Grindr account was discovered during the security clearance process, former White House assistant Stephanie Grisham wrote in her tell-all memoir, “I take your question now: What I saw in Trump’s White House. ”

Melania Trump’s Chief of Staff Lindsay Reynolds announced to Grisham one day in early 2018 that one of Grisham’s closest friends in the White House was fired because of a “problem with his security clearance”, despite having worked for the past President Donald Trump for “more than 3 years.”

Grisham, who then served as First Lady’s press secretary, told the story in a lengthy passage about former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly who released or reassigned several staff members after renewing the security clearance process. Grisham wrote that Kelly “oversaw some activities that were frankly shitty.”

The man, whom Grisham did not name, “was walked out of the White House by a woman from Human Resources, followed by an armed Secret Service agent, and no further thought was given to it,” she wrote. She later found out it was because the employee used Grindr, a dating app most commonly used by gay men to find sex with other men.

“The person who determined security clearances had come across his Grindr account and decided that some of the things on it would be ‘personally embarrassing’ for Mrs. Trump,” Grisham wrote.

Grisham suggested that John Kelly himself make the decision to fire staff as he was a “control freak”.

“To this day, I do not know if the decision went all the way up to General Kelly, even though he was the type who liked top-to-bottom control, so that was certainly possible,” she continued. “I know one of Kelly’s deputies was well aware of what had happened and supported the decision, something that made me furious on many levels.”

In March 2018, several White House employees were fired due to security clearance issues in the wake of allegations of abuse of the home against former White House Secretary Rob Porter.

Grisham said the incident caused her to stop being friendly with Kelly and his team in the White House. “I just could not get over that level of bias,” she wrote.

She also blamed Melania Trump for the firing, writing that the first lady reacted angrily when she was informed of the firing decision, but ultimately did nothing that she said was part of the “Transaction type in the Trump White House.”

“If she had really wanted an employee back on her team, if she had really been outraged, she could have done something,” Grisham wrote. “She did not.”

“If the person had really been removed solely because he was gay and had a lively Grindr account, it was wrong. This was a white house filled with infidels,” she wrote. “I had a DUI and they let me stay.”
