New accessibility features come to Halo Infinite

343 Industries has added enhanced accessibility features to Halo Infinite.

“343 Industries’ goal is to make the latest journey into glory universe more accessible to as many players as possible, ”Xbox shared on its blog. “It includes those who are brand new within glory franchise, as well as those who struggled to play due to barriers not previously accounted for. ”

Features include accessibility standards such as enhanced color blindness settings and the ability to re-pin mouse, keyboard and gamepad controls. 343 also adds new innovations such as the motion-assisted steering function, which allows users to add more controls to help steer vehicles such as Warthogs and Mongoose.

Here is a list of Halo Infiniteaccessibility features:

For subtitles

  • Adjust the font size
  • Adjust background opacity
  • Enable color coding of dialog per. Speaker
  • Choose whether you want subtitles for all dialogue or just dialogue related to the narrative in the campaign

General game

  • Customize menu and font size for gameplay
  • Menu narrative with adjustable narrative speed for those who normally use screen readers
  • A new mode called “Linear Navigation” that lets users navigate through the user interface without having to visually see how controls are positioned on the screen to access them
  • Ability to change the friendly and hostile colors to include more options than just red versus blue
  • Multiple UI settings, such as HUD (Heads-up Display) and reticle opacity to make it easier to identify information in HUD
  • Text-to-speech and speech-to-text options for players who want to participate in voice chat and either need to send synthesized voice or receive voice chat as synthesized text
  • New customizations for players to control their audio experience with different volumes for different sounds in the game
  • Adaptability for both controller and keyboard and mouse to re-pin keys, adjust sensitivity and switch to press and switch versus hold
  • A new motion-assisted steering function that lets you use additional controls to help steer wheel cars instead of just the classic “look-to-steer” mechanic

Availability and inclusion in Halo Infinite is not limited to game settings. 343 Industries entered into a partnership with disabled service groups Warfighter Committed to designing prosthesis customization options for players creating their own Spartans.

These new Halo Infinite features are part of a bigger push across the Xbox and across the gaming industry to be more accessible to gamers of all abilities. Earlier this year, Microsoft launched a program where developers can have their games tested and evaluated for their availability.

“Accessibility is a journey,” Xbox says. “And 343 Industries will continue to update Halo Infinite in ways that allow as many people as possible to fight alongside the master boss. ”

Halo Infinite launched December 8.
