The popular boy band has confirmed that their member will be one of the performers at the opening ceremony and will also be featured on the soundtrack.

Originally scheduled for November 21, the opening ceremony was moved a day early to allow hosts Qatar to start the tournament as is customary for their home nation, but the ceremony had to take place in the evening before a scheduled fireworks display. Although, after FIFA president Gianni Infantino’s Speech Saturdaythat may be easier said than done.

“Today I feel Qatari, I feel Arab, I feel African, I feel gay, I feel disabled, I feel like a migrant worker. We have learned many lessons from Europeans and the Western world. I am European. For what we’ve been We’ve been doing all over the world for 3,000 years, we should apologize for the next 3,000 years before we give moral lessons,” Infantino said. “If Europe really cares about the fate of these people, they can create legal channels, like Qatar did, where some of these workers can come to Europe to work. Give them a future, a little hope.”

Atlanta-based rapper Lil Baby has confirmed on Twitter that he will perform at the World Cup, but most of the opening ceremony performers will be surprises. Lil Baby won a 2022 Grammy for Best Melodic Rap Performance for his feature film on Kanye West’s Hurricane and he has also been honored with an XXL award, BET awards and others. Since the performance of the opening ceremony usually lasts about 30 minutes, there will likely be other people participating in the seven-act program.

Here’s a taste of what to expect from the opening ceremony fireworks:

Declines and other performance rumours

According to reports, Shakira, who has been a regular in previous World Cups, was scheduled to perform, but has decided not to participate in the opening ceremony. Her song Waka Waka has a place in our memories of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. It was rumored that Dua Lipa was also involved, but she released a statement on Instagram.

“There is currently a lot of speculation that I will perform at the opening ceremony of the World Cup in Qatar. I will not perform and have not been involved in any negotiation to perform,” said Dua Lipa during the performance. “I will cheer England I look forward to visiting Qatar when it has fulfilled all the human rights pledges it made when it won the right to host the World Cup.”
