A prequel to HBO’s “The Sopranos,” the film features Michael Gandolfini as a young Tony Soprano navigating family responsibilities and racial tensions in Newark. Guided by his uncle Dickie Moltisanti (Alessandro Nivola) through the 60s and 70s, Tony begins his fateful transformation into a mob leader. Star Michael Gandolfini steps into the role, first made famous by his late father, James Gandolfini.
“The Sopranos” was originally aired from 1999 to 2007 on HBO and won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama twice. “The Many Saints of Newark”, which generally receives favorable reviews from critics, currently has a “73% Fresh” rating on the Rotten Tomatoes website for review.
